Now Open :: Saint Germain in the Bywater

Sip and sup at the Bywater's newest wine bar and bistro, Saint Germain.

Saint Germain
3054 St. Claude Ave.
New Orleans

Try as you might, you've never mastered the pronunciation of the word sommelier.

Work on your inflection at Saint Germain, now open in the Bywater. Part wine bar, part French bistro, here you'll sip the fruits of other's labor. The trio of owners, who have ties to Mopho and Maypop, have created an ode to Paris on St. Claude Ave. The lovely green walls in the shotgun-style space - inspired by George Washington's belief that the color helped with digestion - summon you in to snag one of the 16 available seats. Settle in for a lovely plate of chicken liver terrine wrapped in poached pork belly or opt for the bar to share fries, house-made cheeses and a bottle from their biodynamic wine offerings. The prettily lit back patio beckons for nights when the weather is behaving.

So good you'll be tongue-tied.
