It’s not easy being green. Especially in a town where the fajita is as common as rice in Japan.
Back away from the queso and head to Green Vegetarian, the darling downtown eatery housed in an historic 1896 building. Whether you scoff at meat, are searching for Kosher or finally feel like admitting that guacamole doesn’t qualify as your daily greens, you’ll be hooked on the super-fresh, healthy fare. (They’ve got a garden out front and gather their own eggs on property.) They serve up crunchy granola stuff with a twist – like the yummy popcorn tofu or “neatloaf” – plus sandwiches, salads and stirfry that regular folks will love.
Green is doing their part to get rid of our not-so-proud distinction as the fattest city. And honey, when you woof down chips and salsa after one too many the night before, that includes you.
