Haven’t been to the ‘Burg lately? Here’s what’s hip in that sweet small town with big-city style. If candle making and kraut isn’t typically on your roadtrip radar, check out these can’t-miss spots for a perfect day-cation.

SHOP
Root Fashion and Aura – Relaxed style at reasonable prices.
Zertz – Great for one-of-a-kind gifts.
Lauren Bade – What was once a San Antonio antique store moved years ago and now includes eclectic housewares, jewelry and accessories.
Red – Chic and unexpected … textured antiques and sleek modern pieces.

BREAKFAST
Fredericksburg Gourmet Coffee & Tea – Sip fresh roasted coffee with your morning meal on the cozy patio.
Rathskeller Restaurant – We can’t get enough of their perfect pancakes.

LUNCH
Rather Sweet – Rebecca Rather, affectionately known by locals as the Pastry Queen, offers sweet tea and sammies for lunching ladies.
Fredericksburg Herb Farm – Talk about farm to table. Nosh in their gorgeous restaurant, Rock House.

DINNER
Navajo Grill – Self-proclaimed spiced and spirited.
The Nest – Chef John Wilkinson, a grad of CIA in New York, opened an eatery with his wife in a cozy red-doored bungalow.
August E’s – Arrive early and drink a glass of local vino at the very cool bar before diving into the Asian fusion menu.

SIP
Lincoln Street – Listen to music under the stars at this charming wine bar, where small plates and cigars are also on the well-priced menu.
Hondo’s – What Fred does best: Live music and cold beer.

STAY
Roadrunner Inn – Snag one of just three rooms at this tiny guesthouse, and you’ll feel like you’re sleeping inside Anthropologie.
The Basse House – Rent the entire cottage at the Hoffman Haus for a totally reasonable price, and spend the weekend on the gorgeous front porch.
